Seiwa Tokonole Leather Burnishing Gum is a water based, low V.O.C., natural gum based edge burnishing & slicking compound. To be used on natural and/or colour-dyed vegetable tanned leather. Produces a shiny, smooth & professional looking edge.
Colour: Black
Size: 120g
Also available in clear & brown.
Made in Japan.
Directions for use:
- Shake well before use.
- For best results, first bevel the edge of leather with an edge beveler.
- If leather is going to be stained, antiqued, or dyed, only apply Tokonole after dying, as it may block penetration of the dye or stain.
- Apply a thin coat of Tokonole to the leather edge with a wool dauber, cloth or slightly damp sponge.
- Wipe off any excess that might end up on the surface of the leather as this might darken the leather.
- Work in small sections to prevent the Tokonole from drying completely before burnishing.
- After applying, allow to penetrate the leather for a few seconds, but start burnishing before the Tokonole has dried completely.
- Rub edge briskly with a burnisher/edge slicker, bone folder, or piece of canvas.
- As the Tokonole dries and heats up due to friction caused by rubbing, the treated edge will become darker and glossier.
- Repeat until the desired burnish is achieved, optionally sanding the edge between applications.
Note:
- Close the lid tightly after use and store in a cool place out of reach of children and pets.
- This product is not water resistant. To protect edges form moisture, apply a water-resistant finishing agent over this product.
